India Shawn returns to the ATL stage
Welcome to another edition of ATL Soul Weekly — Slo*Mo’s curated look at some of the week’s most notable sights, sounds and events.
India Shawn strikes back: Atlanta music scene alumni India Shawn — who’s been making a ton of noise lately with her newest (and quite damn dope) EP, “Before We Go” — is coming back through town March 8, taking the stage at WABE’s Sounds Like ATL music series. Sharing the bill with fellow ATL expat Adron and rising vocalist Prisca, Shawn will undoubtedly be singing cuts from her current project (such as one of our favorites below), as well as soulful stuff from her hit-filled catalog. This is a can’t-miss event, y’all. $28-$40. City Winery. More info: Sounds Like ATL.
Speaking of Atlanta expats: Did y’all see that house-flavored singer Miranda Nicole dropped her long-awaited EP, “Ginger,” in January? Well, she did … and the multifaceted project is worth the wait. So, visit her Bandcamp page, and put that album all in your earholes.
Also: A couple of our favorite Atlanta-based soul artists — Jermaine Hardsoul and Somalia — recently dropped some brand-new music videos. Check out the clips below:
